CopyCat

How it works

From a tip to a voice on your stream.

Streamers set CopyCat up once in OBS. Donors pick a voice by starting their message with its tag.

For streamers

Setting up your stream.

You do this once. After that, CopyCat works whenever your overlay is open in OBS.

  1. Log in with your invite

CopyCat is invite-only for now. Open your invite link and log in with Kick. Your channel is made the first time you log in. Google login is coming.

  2. Connect your donation platforms

    On your dashboard, under Connections:

    • Kick: one click connects the Kick channel you logged in with, for gifts of Kicks.
    • Streamlabs and StreamElements: paste the token from their site. The dashboard says where to find it.

Each connection shows whether it's working and when the last tip arrived. Tokens are stored encrypted and never shown again.

  3. Add the overlay to OBS

Add your overlay link as a Browser Source. It shows the card and plays the voice, and does nothing else. If the link ever leaks, make a new one and the old one stops working at once.

  4. Add the dock to OBS

Add the dock as a custom browser dock and log in inside it. If you'd rather use your password manager, choose "Log in with a code" and approve it from your normal browser. From the dock you can:

    • pause and resume, skip what's playing, and replay or regenerate a message
    • send a test donation
    • see the last 24 hours of donations
    • turn the AI-voice label on or off for your channel
  5. Choose your voices

Your channel can use voices you own, voices shared with you, public voices, and CopyCat's own library if your plan includes it. Switch each voice on or off, and choose which of its emotions work.

  6. Set your word filters

CopyCat's default word list is on for every channel. Add your own lists, switch any list on or off, and import or export them as files. You can also set a character limit, and test any message to see what would happen to it.

  7. Bring in your team

Invite admins and moderators by their Kick name. They join once they accept, and each logs in with their own account. Everyone gets the full dock, and every action is recorded with who did it.

For donors

Tipping with a voice.

Start your message with a voice tag. Everything after it is what the voice says.

[novathe voice :hype]an emotion, if you want one let's go chatyour message
Nova is an example. Each streamer chooses which voices their channel uses, so check their stream or ask them.
  • The tag goes at the very start of your message.
  • An emotion the voice doesn't have uses its normal voice instead.
  • Links are read as "link", and emoji are skipped.
  • Viewers see your name, the amount and your message, with an AI voice label.

What happens to a message

It starts with a voice the channel uses
Read aloud in that voice, in the order tips arrived.
No tag, or a voice the channel doesn't use
Not read aloud by CopyCat.
It contains a word on the channel's filter lists
Not read aloud.
It's longer than the channel's character limit
Shortened at a word, or not read aloud, as the streamer chose.
The voice isn't ready within two minutes
Shown on the overlay as text instead, so the stream doesn't fall behind.

Invite-only for now.

CopyCat is opening to streamers by invitation. Ask for an invite by email.
